Beautiful Things are Useless

peacocks and lilies for instance. "

Beautiful lily, interesting quote! Although, I'm not so sure I agree with the quote...

I don´t agree with the quote. If it is beautiful it is very much useful.

everyone to his/her own opinion, but I feel that beauty can be the sole use to brighten our days!
gorgeous photo!

A crescendo of petal and shadow!

Very pretty photo. But I'm not sure I agree with the quote - beautiful music can be one of the most profound experiences in life, and my beautiful wife is definitely not useless :)

The photo is gorgeous - and I don't agree with Ruskin. They are beautiful - that is enough. We need beauty in this world.

I guess it depends on your definition of useful. And not only that, useful things (architecture, perhaps?) can be quite beautiful. But we all can agree that lilies are beautiful! Here's a daylily in my garden:

Flowers are never useless to me- but peacocks...well....I'll have to ponder that! They are pretty but oh so noisy!
Have a great week!

Beautiful! Lillies are lovely..I don't know about useless, but I love useless things too, lol! My post today has lots of pretty shadows, as the day was so sunny inside my house, even. Big hugs,
FABBY

Beauty in itself is a balm to the soul, so does have a use. That said, I absolutely loved the quote!

Beauty brings us inspiration and fuels our creativity, so how can it be useless. There are many beautiful herbs that have immeasurable value.

The quote is interesting, but I beg to differ and love your beautiful lily!!
