A stand of cholla cacti in early November, Anza-Borrego Desert, Southern California
"Forest" of cacti,
Sharp shadows grow,
Piercing the desert—
Needles of woe.

Great look at a forest most will never see, the cacti look soft and approachable - much like our cat. Better not pet this furry plant too hard...it may bite back!
I've never seen cacti like that! Great shot and haiku!
that's one forest that I wouldn't care to walk through! however, great capture and a verse full of SHARP imagery.
What a lovely day...
We just started the dreary weather and hope no snow this coming weeks and it can wait till end of the year. LoL*
Happy SSS2 to all participants.
that looks hot
Love the cacti photos and the poem which goes with it so well.
Whoa! Don't be walking barefoot around here!
Great shot of a great desert. Lots going on here.
I have never seen such cacti, beautiful!
Those cacti make for very interesting shadows.
An interesting landscape which acts so unreal!
A great shot !
Piercing the desert -- makes me cringe a little to think about it.
Thanks for hosting.
Never ceases to amaze me...desert life!...:)JP
That's such a neat photo. The foreground looks hot, but the background looks cool.
