Spines of a cholla cactus, Anza-Borrego Desert, Southern California
Spines and shadows mingling
On the desert floor;
Something is a-tingling—
Who could ask for more?

The desert is beautiful, but the protective measures that cactus employ to stay safe look quite painful. Admire - but don't touch!
MMT ... I can almost feel the sharpness of this cactus .. perfect combination of soft light and shadows yet almost protected by these spines .. cute little poem too!
Joy : )
It's such a beautiful image, but I can't look it at too much as the thorns give me the eebie geebies!
Cool spines...great shadow!!!...:)JP
I love how this sort of explodes like fireworks!
Wonderful shadow shot macro. Don't touch!
Yikes! Spikes! There is beauty in that plant! Very nice.:)
Hope you all had a great summer and will have a wonderful Autumn ahead.
I was away for soooo long from SSS2. So many things to do and happened in my life.
But, I am here today joining you once again.
Happy SSS2 World.
That looks like a rather mean piece of nature. Fascinating macro.
